Blues boss Mick McCarthy says he’ll only use the loan market to augment his squad next season, believing that Town have had far too many players on a temporary basis this season. The Blues have had 16 different players on loan over the course of 2012/13.

Frank Nouble scored twice and Aaron Cresswell the Town goal of the season as three late first half strikes saw the Blues to a 3-0 victory over Crystal Palace at Portman Road. Palace dominated until keeper Julian Speroni gifted Nouble his first goal for the Blues on 37, then in first half injury time Cresswell slammed in a brilliant second, before another catastrophic error, this time from Peter Ramage, led to Nouble’s second. Mick McCarthy’s men comfortably saw out the second half.

The Tigers were on top in the first half and went ahead from the spot through Robbie Brady after Guirane N’Daw had fouled David Meyler. Town were the better team after the break, sub Anthony Wordsworth grabbing his first goal for the Blues but Robert Koren headed a late winner for the visitors.
